06 — THE EVIDENCE
THE EVIDENCE, NOT JUST THE CLAIM.
Skincare marketing can make almost anything sound impressive. We would rather show you the research.
Our Evidence Library connects key active ingredients with published research so you can understand what has been studied, how it was studied, and how relevant that evidence is to the product you're using. Research on an ingredient does not automatically mean the finished Beyond Skin formulation has been clinically tested. When the evidence applies to an ingredient rather than our finished formula, we tell you. No blurred lines. No invented percentages. Just better-informed skincare.
How to Use
- 01After cleansing and toning, apply 1–2 pumps to the face and neck and allow to absorb before moisturiser.
- 02Use consistently as part of a targeted brightening routine.
- 03In the morning, finish with broad-spectrum SPF.
- 04Where sensitivity occurs, reduce frequency.

SCIENCE & CLINICAL REFERENCES
The research behind the actives in this product
These references relate to the individual active ingredients, as studied in published research. Unless an entry says otherwise, they are not clinical trials of the finished Beyond Skin formulation — ingredient-level evidence does not mean the finished product has been clinically tested.

INGREDIENT
Glutathione
AUTHOR / STUDY
Watanabe et al. — Topical oxidised glutathione, double-blind placebo-controlled trial (30 women, 10 weeks).
JOURNAL
Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology
YEAR
2014
EVIDENCE TYPE
CONTROLLED CLINICAL TRIAL
WHAT WAS STUDIED
A randomised double-blind placebo-controlled study investigated a 2% oxidised glutathione lotion in 30 women over 10 weeks, reporting a significantly lower melanin index versus placebo. This is ingredient/formulation evidence, not testing of this serum.
RELEVANCE TO THIS INGREDIENT
To provide antioxidant support and complement the formula’s pigmentation-focused ingredients.
The study used 2% OXIDISED glutathione. We do not imply this serum contains that concentration unless formulation data confirms it. Not all glutathione formulations behave identically.

INGREDIENT
Vitamin C

Ascorbic acid in skincare — review literature.

EVIDENCE TYPE
REVIEW
WHAT WAS STUDIED
Review evidence supports vitamin C’s role in antioxidant and pigmentation-related pathways. Not every vitamin C formulation produces identical outcomes, and this serum does not replace sunscreen.
RELEVANCE TO THIS INGREDIENT
For antioxidant support and to help improve the appearance of uneven pigmentation and dullness.
Stability, concentration and delivery determine real-world performance.

INGREDIENT
Alpha Arbutin

EVIDENCE TYPE
REVIEW
WHAT WAS STUDIED
A review highlights α-arbutin’s potential in hyperpigmentation-related use. Outcomes depend on concentration and formulation.
RELEVANCE TO THIS INGREDIENT
To complement vitamin C and glutathione within a multi-active brightening approach.
We do not overstate clinical outcomes without verified evidence for the exact ingredient concentration.

INGREDIENT
Hydrolysed Collagen
AUTHOR / STUDY
Hydrolysed collagen in skincare — mechanistic literature.
EVIDENCE TYPE
MECHANISTIC / REVIEW EVIDENCE
WHAT WAS STUDIED
Mechanistic, formulation-based evidence for conditioning and hydration.
RELEVANCE TO THIS INGREDIENT
To support hydration, softness and a smoother skin feel.
Topical hydrolysed collagen does not replace collagen in the dermis and is not an injectable-style replacement.

INGREDIENT
Jojoba Oil, Witch Hazel, Centella & Cucumber
AUTHOR / STUDY
Botanical skin-conditioning ingredients — review literature.
EVIDENCE TYPE
REVIEW
WHAT WAS STUDIED
Mechanistic and review evidence for conditioning and emollience. No aggressive astringent or anti-ageing claim is made.
RELEVANCE TO THIS INGREDIENT
For emollience, skin conditioning and freshness alongside the brightening actives.
Botanical evidence is extract- and formulation-specific.

INGREDIENT
Hyaluronic Acid, Elastin & Proline
AUTHOR / STUDY
Humectant hydration and conditioning — mechanistic literature.
EVIDENCE TYPE
MECHANISTIC / REVIEW EVIDENCE
WHAT WAS STUDIED
Mechanistic humectant and conditioning evidence.
RELEVANCE TO THIS INGREDIENT
For hydration and a smooth, conditioned feel.
Topical elastin does not rebuild dermal elastic fibres; proline is positioned as an amino-acid conditioning component.
VIEW STUDY
We separate ingredient-level evidence from finished-product clinical evidence. Where research investigates an ingredient, we say so. Where it investigates a finished formulation, we say that too. We do not present one as the other.
